Waltham Forest Community Coalition
We are a coalition of community groups who have come together to support progressive candidates for the May 7th council elections in Waltham Forest.
The idea for this coalition started in early 2025, with local groups coming together to talk about how we might support each other’s campaigns and put pressure on the council to deliver a fairer borough.
We realised two things:
We are strongest when we work together. While it is easy for the council to dismiss our groups individually, we have more power, more influence and more resource when we join forces.
Although the issues our groups are focused on are, on the face of it, different — housing, migrant rights, public services, environmental issues, Palestine — many of the people who care about one of these causes care about all of them.
The May local elections give us a vital opportunity to influence the council and its decision making. We are not a political party, we are not trying to stand our own candidates. But we want to coordinate our grassroots campaigns, which were all already calling for council action, to try to push for more progressive candidates to win seats and advance these issues at council.
The candidates we are supporting have agreed to fight for our demands around social housing, migrant justice, public services, climate action, community ownership, and Palestine. They have also agreed to work closely with the Coalition and community if elected, involving greater accountability and collaboration.

Who We Are
London Renter's Union is a member-led campaigning union taking action to transform the housing system and win homes for people, not private profit.
Waltham Forest for a Free Palestine is a group of local residents and community organisers campaigning for a free Palestine. We are fighting for our council to divest from genocide and end all ties with companies complicit in human rights abuses.
Transition Walthamstow is a community-led group working towards a healthier, fairer and resilient Walthamstow. We believe that together we can best tackle the interrelated climate, biodiversity and cost of living crises. We run the Transmission Garden on Mission Grove in the centre of Walthamstow.
Right to Grow Waltham Forest is a community campaign to win a right to grow food on public land. We want the energy and ambition of community food growers in the borough to be matched by the council. As well as campaigning for policy change, the Right to Grow works directly with communities to establish community gardens.
East London Unite Community is a section of Unite the Union. Our membership is open to those not in paid employment, such as jobseekers, unemployed, retirees, carers. It’s for people who want to be part of the trade union movement and be active in organising, campaigning and mobilising in the community alongside other workers.
Waltham Forest Anti Raids Network (WARN) is a grassroots network working to foster community resistance to immigration raids in our borough.
Waltham Forest PSC is a local branch of the national Palestine Solidarity Campaign which brings people from all walks of life together to campaign for Palestinian rights and freedom.
Vote Palestine Vote is a national grassroots campaign centring Palestine and rejecting genocide in the 2026 local elections.
